NATURAL HAIR CARE

Due to the fact that many women of color have worn their hair in a chemically treated fashion; many don’t know what a basic hair care regime consists of for their natural hair.  This natural hair blog has posts that discuss basic hair care things regarding hydration and the importance of deep conditioning your hair. In addition, there are eye-catching infographics that list steps on basic natural hair care topics.

NATURAL HAIR ROUTINES

Routines are especially important when dealing with your natural hair.  To be successful with taking care of your natural hair one must have specific routines.  For example, there must be a moisturizing routine, nighttime routine, wash day routine and deep conditioning routine.  These routines are all essential for you to keep your tresses hydrated and healthy.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS

Many of us take care of our financial needs but neglect our physical and mental needs.  I will address topics that I feel are beneficial for us as human beings. Topics that will be discussed are meditation, balancing life, emotional intelligence and more.  In my opinion, these are topics that we as people need to dive into deeply to understand ourselves better.

ABOUT ME

My name is Kim and I am from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  I am an educator and the mother of two young men. More than half my life I wore my hair in a chemically treated fashion.  As a little girl, my mother took care of my natural hair. She used grease to keep my scalp and hair oiled. My mother would wash my hair and put plaits throughout while it dried.

As an adult, I wore my hair in a chemically treated fashion which straightened my hair.  Due to the decades of harsh chemicals straightening my hair and causing my hair to become thin, I decided I would wear my hair in its natural state.  I have been natural for 5 years. It has definitely been a journey and I have learned so much about my hair and myself.
